Three security officers attached to Kisii Gubernatorial candidate Manson Nyamweya died after the car they were travelling in was involved in an accident with a motorbike.
Confirming the accident, Nyamweya stated that the three died in a fatal road accident at Nyambunwa area while the politician was leaving the burial of the mother to former Nyaribari Masaba MP Elijah Moindi.
The Kenya National Congress (KNC) party boss stated that the driver of the vehicle lost control after he tried to avoid knocking down a pedestrian and an approaching motorbike. The vehicle rolled over multiple times – leaving the three dead and two others with critical injuries.

“It is with profound sadness that I have come to terms with the demise of three of my security officers in a fatal road accident at Nyambunwa near Nyamesocho Secondary School.
“The vehicle they were travelling in was avoiding a collision with a pedestrian who was crossing the road and an approaching motorbike, only to veer off the road and roll severally causing fatal injuries to the deceased persons,” he stated
The ex-South Mugitango MP also sent his condolences to the families of the bereaved, promising to compensate them.
“I register my heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the late Joel Ositu, the late Seth Omambia and the late Stephen Makori. I will ensure that their memories are honoured and have offered my full support to the bereaved. I stand firmly with them,” the former MP stated.
The injured were rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital where they were undergoing treatment at the time of publishing this story.
The incident comes barely a month after a vehicle belonging to Bonchari lawmaker, Ben Momanyi, knocked down supporters during a campaign rally in Nyaramba.
The boda boda rider and his pillion passenger, who were a few metres from Momanyi’s main vehicle, were tossed in the air after being hit by the speeding Landcruiser vehicle.
In the same month, Kiminini legislator Chris Wamalwa’s vehicle was torched after it was involved in an accident that claimed the life of a woman.
