There may not be a team in the NBA that is trying to make a trade as much as the Los Angeles Lakers. They know that the clock is ticking on them being contenders as there are only so many years left in the tank for LeBron James, who is finally starting to show some signs of slowing down with how many games he has missed the last two seasons.
When on the court, James is still as dominant as ever, he just isn’t available as often to play. Knowing that, the front office is doing its best to reshape the roster around him.
For years, the formula for success on a team led by him was simple. Load up on shooters and two-way players that get after it defensively and let the stars do their thing. Los Angeles kind of went against that, bringing in Russell Westbrook last offseason and trading away multiple players that fit alongside James.
This offseason, they are looking to hit the reset button on that deal as they want to move on from Westbrook. That is easier said than done, as the market for him isn’t robust, but, there have been a few teams mentioned as possible suitors.
LATEST NBA NEWS AND RUMORS: Could Los Angeles Lakers’ Russell Westbrook Situation Last Until Trade Deadline?
The San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks have been mentioned as potential landing spots and all view him as a contract, not a player that will help them on the court. Who else could make some creative deals for the Lakers to consider?
Here are three new trade ideas centered around Westbrook that Los Angeles could consider.
