Four men between the ages of 18 and 20 were shot in the South Chicago neighborhood, two fatally, on Sunday evening.
At approximately 6:47 p.m. in the 8600 block of South Kingston Avenue, four men were approached by an unknown individual who took out a handgun and fired shots in front of a residence, according to a police notification.
“Further investigation revealed there were at least two shooters who fired rounds at the house of this location striking those victims,” Deputy Chief Larry Snelling said in a news conference.
An 18-year-old man was struck in the forearm and thigh and was taken to an unknown hospital in fair condition.
A 20-year-old man was struck in the abdomen and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, initially reported in fair condition, the notification said.
A 20-year-old man was struck in the buttocks and stomach and was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
An 18-year-old man was struck multiple times and was taken to the University of Chicago where he was pronounced dead.
At this time, it is believed that the four men were on the front porch of the residence, and multiple rounds were recovered at the scene, including rifle rounds, 9mm, and 45 Gallagher rounds, according to Snelling.
“They came up on foot, they fled on foot,” Snelling said. “At this time the investigation is ongoing, the detectives are on top of it and they are canvassing the area for more evidence.”
