Seventy volunteer groups and non-governmental organisations in 25 councils of Delta State have joined the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi’s movement, which has declared its intention to rescue Nigeria from bad leadership.
The groups, which were in Asaba weekend, held stakeholders town hall meeting, where they unveiled the state governorship candidate, Deacon Kawhariebie Ken Pela; his deputy, Prof. Julie Nwabogo Umukoro, and other candidates.
At the meeting, LP’s Deputy Chairman, South South, Prince Favour Reuben, urged Nigerians to do all they could for the party to take over power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), because “our country for now is looking for a saviour.”
He said: “Nigeria is looking for a saviour. Peter Obi is there for us. He is God-sent and the spiritual force to change the face of Nigeria. He has the brain needed to refloat the nation’s economy for our common good.”
While urging the groups to be fully prepared for the task ahead, he told them the party needs only those with the zeal to win the election and certainly not those that will easily be compromised.
In his remarks, Pela asked Nigerians, particularly youths, to take their destiny in their own hands and vote out the leadership of the country, saying the leaders are the biggest problem in Nigeria.
The party state Chairman, Tony Ezeagwu, said: “It’s God divine that Peter Obi will take over power next year.” Among the groups were: Door to Door for Peter Obi; Peter Obi Vanguard; Oshimili South Peter Obi Movement; Rescue Nigeria 2023 for Peter Obi; We Will Take Back Naija; Vibrant Men and Women for Peter Obi; Take by Force for Peter Obi, Ijaw Youths for Peter Obi; Ika Mechanised Farmers Association of Nigeria for Peter Obi: Peter Obi Network and United Pastors for Peter Obi.
Also in the list are: Ika Nation for Peter Obi; Nigerian Youth for Peter Obi; Voice of Priests for Peter Obi; It’s Time to Take back Nigeria; Peter Obi Coalition; Astute Reporter for Peter Obi.
