Il Divo singer Carlos Marin has died of Covid-19 in a hospital in Manchester, the group has announced.
The 53-year-old Spanish singer became ill with the virus on December 7, despite having been vaccinated.
He is survived by the three other members of the male pop-operatic quartet, created by music producer Simon Cowell in 2003.

Il Divo announced the news on Twitter this evening (Sunday, December 19).
The group’s post read: “It is with heavy hearts that we are letting you know that our friend and partner, Carlos Marin, has passed away.
“He will be missed by his friends, family and fans.
“There wiIl never be another voice or spirit like Carlos.”
The group added: “For 17 years the four of us have been on this incredible journey of Il Divo together, and we will miss our dear friend.
“We hope and pray that his beautiful soul will rest in peace. With Love — David, Sebastien and Urs.”
After falling ill with Covid, the Spanish singer was reportedly admitted to hospital in Manchester and placed in a medically-induced coma.
On December 10, Il Divo announced they were postponing their remaining UK tour dates until 2022 due to ‘illness’, although they didn’t share any further detail.

They said: “Unfortunately, due to illness, the remaining dates for Il Divo’s December 2021 UK tour have been postponed until December 2022.
“Il Divo are deeply sorry to their fans, but look forward to returning to the road in the new year and seeing you all in the run up to next Christmas.”
The band were scheduled to perform two festive European shows, but they were postponed until July next year.
