Kenyans Share Customer Service Experiences When Buying Cooking Gas from Different Vendors: “Just a Call Away”

Kenya is celebrating Customer Service Week this week like the rest of the world.

During this period, organisations celebrate individuals and teams doing this demanding work and inspire others to do the same.

It is the perfect time to boost morale, motivation, and teamwork. Reward frontline representatives for the vital work they do all year long.

However, this week, Kenyans have used social media to share customer service experiences while buying cooking gas from different vendors.

In a Facebook post, Wahome Thuku, a blogger, narrated what it takes to buy a KGas from Quickmart supermarket in Kitengela, Kajiado county.

“You park your car, walk into the supermarket, queue at the customer care, pay, get an attendant, go with him out to the parking, hand in the empty cylinder from your car, get the filled one and leave,” Thuku posted on his official Facebook page.

He also shared what it entails to buy the same gas from Rubis Petrol Station in the same locality.

“You drive to the gas section, hoot, the empty cylinder is removed from your car, a filled-up one is loaded, you pay from your car and drive away. Please don’t ask me how the former should do it, mimi sijui. (I don’t know),” he explained.

Kenyans online quickly expressed mixed reactions to Thuku’s post.

TUKO.co.ke sampled some of the reactions below:

Marangu Obed The General said:

And there are these street ones you call with feet on your couch… The seller’s delivery guy brings it, changes it for you and walks out … You pay watching Maria on citizen tv.

Kariuki Jon Walker wrote:

At my Estate, I just make a phone call to a number posted on the gate, someone delivers, fix in the kitchen and goes with the empty; I don’t care the mode they use. the Price is the same.

It would help if you bought from local dealers who deliver to your house . They are cheaper too.

It’s unfair for hustlers to que, yet they ” won” and formed the government.

Wahome Thuku, where I live, when your gas cylinder is empty, you call the gas person to drop a filled one at your house and pick up the empty one.
