The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) extended the deadline for the fresh registration of SIM cards to October 15, 2022.

State-owned telecommunication company Telkom Kenya could be worse hit ahead of the Saturday midnight closure.

As of Friday, October 14, Telkom had recorded only 40% compliance from its subscribers, Business Daily reported.

This means the telco could lose 60% of its subscribers should they fail to update their details by midnight.
The mobile subscriber took to social media to remind its customers of the fast-approaching deadline.
“Have you updated your SIM registration details as per the Communications Authority of Kenya requirements? The deadline to do so is tomorrow, 15th October 2022,” Telkom tweeted.
Safaricom, Airtel Kenya subscribers
Leading telecommunication giant Safaricom recorded 91% subscriber compliance as of Friday.
Airtel Kenya boosted its hopes in the market as 78% of subscribers updated their details during the same period.
According to the regulator, the April 2022 push saw Safaricom achieve 67% compliance with SIM registration, Airtel Kenya (55%) and Telkom Kenya (33%).
