Arsenal are confident that there is no serious situation around Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s health, following reports that the striker was suffering from “heart lesions” after recovering from COVID-19.
Aubameyang was not named in Gabon’s team for their Africa Cup of Nations match with Ghana, a measure which Arsenal understand as precautionary.
Arsenal’s doctors are thought to have spoken to Gabon’s medics, and have been reassured that Aubameyang is feeling well, and the situation is not serious.
The Gabon captain has not featured in either of Gabon’s opening two matches in the competition after testing positive for COVID-19 on January 6.
