Queen’s Park was painted red for Christmas Morning in the Park 2022.
The colour of the season turned out to be a vibrant red. Red dresses, red shoes, red plaid, red ties, red jackets, red hats, red fascinators, just lots of red apparel was on show. In the retail stores the clerks couldn’t tell Loop the colour for the holidays as Christmas approached, but on the morning of December 25, it seemed that most people got the same style memo – go red and go bold.
As people left church or came straight from home to Queen’s Park, in the absence of masks, now that all protocols have been dropped, the smiles were bright. Friends greeted friends, families met up in their favourite spots, and old school and work colleagues embraced as they reunited.
The fountain was operational and the mobile photographers were capturing moments and making a pretty penny. Meanwhile, others held their own photoshoots using their personal cameras or smart phones.
Hundreds if not thousands listened to the Barbados Police Service band in the gazebo as is tradition and then sauntered over to the main stage where Promise sang Christmas carols. The stage was set in the square outside of the Daphne Joseph Hackett Theatre and right in front the stage the most festive, most hyped attendees hopped, skipped, jumped and did their line dances.
Christmas Morning in the Park was a breath of fresh air after the last two years of the pandemic.
