Emergency Management Minister Bridget McKenzie today announced mental health support will be prioritised in flood-affected communities.
“Wherever I go in this particular event, mental health is raised time and time again”, she said.
The government will be investing in a ‘Resilient Kids’ program, aimed at school-aged children “who are experiencing anxiety, who have autism, to really get that specialist, targeted care they need”, which will be “not just in the immediate aftermath of the event, but in the years that follow it.”
The focus will be committing to long-term mental health initiatives.
