Sheffield United welcome Wrexham to Bramall Lane in a Fourth Round replay in 2022-23 FA Cup.
Following a 3-3 draw in Wales in late January, the winner of this replay will host Tottenham Hotspur in the Fifth Round on Wednesday 1 March live on BBC One.
Team News
Ciaran Clark could return for Sheffield Utd following his recovery from a hamstring injury, although he was an unused substitute in their goalless draw at Rotherham on Saturday.
George Baldock (calf) is a doubt but Jack O’Connell (knee), Enda Stevens (muscle), Tommy Doyle (calf), Rhys Norrington-Davies, Rhian Brewster (both hamstring) and John Fleck (leg) remain ruled out.
Wrexham will be without Eoghan O’Connell after he wasn’t registered in time for the initial tie against the Blades.
Jordan Tunnicliffe (ankle), Aaron Hayden (calf), Jordan Davies (knee), Jacob Mendy and Bryce Hosannah (both hamstring) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Sheffield United host Wrexham on Tuesday 7 February in a 7:45pm kick-off at Bramall Lane, with the replay broadcast live on ITV4.
Stat Attack
- Sheffield Utd are yet to lose to Wrexham in the FA Cup (W1, D1).
- Wrexham are visiting Sheffield Utd at Bramall Lane for the first time in the FA Cup, but are winless in three previous visits in all competitions (D1, L2).
- Sheffield Utd are yet to keep a clean sheet against Wrexham in all cup competitions.
- Paul Heckingbottom’s Blades have scored first in each of their two FA Cup matches this season.
- Wrexham’s Paul Mullin has scored eight goals in six FA Cup appearances this season.
Prediction
Having scraped a dramatic draw at Wrexham after twice fighting back following a sloppy start to the second half, Sheffield Utd now have their fate in their own hands but they will have to defend better than they did first time around.
Sheffield Utd however will also need to improve their finishing after a wasteful display at Rotherham on Saturday, whilst also having one eye on Saturday’s upcoming home clash against Swansea in a tricky Championship encounter,
Wrexham meanwhile were scrappy in the first half at Altrincham on Saturday as they adapted defensively without Tunnicliffe and Hayden, yet still managed to dig out a deserved win so I expect them to come here and play without fear like they did against the Blades at home.
I though can’t help but feel that this will be a comfortable home win if Utd play their best football, yet if they play like they did at the weekend then Wrexham really should look to win this game if they can dominate and press the hosts hard in their own half.
Prediction: Sheffield United 2-1 Wrexham
