A new study by Oxford University Press found one in four parents read to their children once per week or not at all, due to a lack of time.
The study was released to mark International Children’s Book Day on April 2.
Oxford University Press Director of Publishing Lee Walker says shared reading “helps to develop vital literacy and those really good communication skills”.
“Reading to your kids also provides a special moment at the end of each day, where parents and children can spend time together,” she told Sky News Australia.
