The value of an NBA free agent can be a little difficult to predict.
Firstly, the cap is always fluctuating. It’s expected to spike soon. Deals that would have made teams blush in the past may be completely normalized.
Secondly, every player doesn’t have clear value. Sometimes, a player has a deficiency that makes their value lower than one may expect.
Other times, they’ve got an intangible quality that raises their value.
Dillon Brooks of the Memphis Grizzlies falls into both camps. If he was a reliable shooter, he’d be a big money player. At the same time, he brings a toughness to the court that’s hard to replace.
Could the Los Angeles Lakers acquire him in a sign-and-trade scenario this summer?
