Wales host Armenia at Cardiff City Stadium, Cardiff, in Qualifying Group D for UEFA Euro 2024.
Victory would see Wales move top of the group with Croatia not in action during this month’s fixtures, whilst Aremnia could go third with a win.
Team News
David Brooks could make his first appearance for Wales in nearly two years, having withdrawn from the squad in October 2021 due to a battle against Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Neco Williams could also feature after he missed Nottingham Forest’s last five matches with a broken jaw.
Morgan Fox, Joe Low, Luke Harris and Liam Cullen are all looking for their first senior international caps.
Armenia have no fresh injury concerns to report with a full squad set to be in contention for selection.
When is Kick-Off?
Wales host Armenia at Cardiff City Stadium, Cardiff, in a 7:45pm BST kick-off live on Viaplay 2 and S4C in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Wales have drawn each of their two previous meetings against Armenia across all competitions (D2).
- Armenia drew 0-0 in their only previous away trip to Wales in September 2001, during Qualifying for 2002 FIFA World Cup.
- Wales are yet to concede at home to Armenia in all competitions.
- Wales are unbeaten in eight of their last ten home matches in all competitions – excluding their designated home games at 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar (W4, D4, L2).
- Armenia are winless in their last eight away games in all competitions (D4, L8).
Prediction
With Croatia not in Qualifying action during this month’s international window, Wales know that they’ve no better chance to boost their qualification prospects if they play with the same gutsy attitude which saw them draw away to Croatia then edge past Latvia in March.
Armenia though can’t be underestimated because despite their poor away form, they do possess a dangerous attack who have scored in four of their last six games meaning that Wales will need to be wary defensively of the oppositional threat.
Wales though know that they really can’t slip up because victory here then away to Turkey would put them firmly closer towards qualification, and I really can see them taking this opportunity if they don’t get complacent.
Prediction: Wales 2-1 Armenia
