Carlos Alcaraz (Sp, 1) bt Daniil Medvedev (3) 6-3/6-3/6-3

A stunning display of tennis saw Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz breeze through to the Wimbledon final after he beat Daniil Medvedev 6-3/6-3/6-3 in less than two hours on Centre Court this evening.
Alcaraz will play Novak Djokovic here on Sunday – and if he reproduces this form he must really fancy his chances against the seven-time champion.
Medvedev’s was the stronger serve at the start of this match, but Alcaraz’s intricate touches and superb net play was treating the Centre Court crowd.
Alcaraz secured the first break of serve to go ahead at 5-3, a fierce forehand wrong-footing the Russian ,before Medvedev hit a long forehand to give his opponent the break.
Alcaraz then raced to 40-0 and a fine first serve was too good for Medvedev, to seal the first set 6-3 in 35 minutes.
The world number one was forced to save a break point on his first service game of the second set, but made his move in the next game. Superb defence at the net from Alcaraz, followed by a long Medvedev forehand, gave him the break at 2-1.
The players held serve until Medvedev stepped up at 3-5. An outstanding forehand set up the chance for Alcaraz to produce a backhand sliced winner to give him three sets points for a two sets to love lead, and although Medvedev saved two of them he netted on the next point to hand the set to the Spaniard.
Medvedev was broken again to make it 4-2 to Alcaraz in the third set, and with the Spaniard’s serve looking imperious, the game looked up for his opponent.
But Alcaraz let Medvedev in for one final chance when he too was broken. However the Russian could not hold his serve by now, and Alcaraz was able to step up to serve for the match at 5-3 after the Russian was broken once again.
Alcaraz’s kick serve was too good for Medvedev to set up match point, and he won it with a blistering forehand pass.
