Hayes Falsely Claims SCOTUS to Ban Gay Marriage, Touts Dem Show Votes

MSNBC will say and do anything to further the Democrat Party’s leftist agenda, no matter what the actual truth is. Further proof of this came during the tail end of Wednesday night’s All In when Chris Hayes claimed, without evidence, that the Supreme Court signaled in the landmark Dobbs v. Jackson case that the decision would create a precedent for repealing the right to same-sex marriage, contraception or even interracial marriage.

Hayes took a concurring opinion written by Justice Clarence Thomas and ran with it, despite the majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito in such plain English that even an MSNBC host could understand that “the Court emphasizes that this decision concerns the constitutional right to abortion and no other right. Nothing in this opinion should be understood to cast doubt on precedents that do not concern abortion.”

Despite this, Hayes continued lying while touting the Democrats’ show vote to codify same-sex marriage despite it already being legal.

“For years, Republican politicians like Ted Cruz have gotten away with being neither for nor against marriage equality for LGBTQ folks,” Hayes claimed. “It’s because in 2015 the Supreme Court quite famously made marriage equality the law of the land, it found a constitutional right for people to marry the person they loved.”

Hayes figured that “because voters supported by a massive margin, 2 to 1 in most of the polls, Republicans were kind of off the hook.”

“But now, in the wake of the radical right-wing Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, and 50 years of precedent, and, crucially Justice Clarence Thomas explicitly calling to overturn the case that made marriage equality the law of the land,” Hayes wailed.

He tried to shame Republicans and demanded that they “pick a side.” Because “Democrats in the House brought up a bill that would federally protect existing same-sex marriages” and “make states recognize marriages from other states, and also repeal the odious Defense of Marriage Act.”

Regardless of what Supreme Justice Thomas wrote, the reality is the other five right-leaning justices rightly or wrongly won’t support overturning the “right” of same-sex couples to “marry.”

Hayes knows his party has nothing to run on in the 2022 midterms so he has to help the Democrats concoct phony controversies.

This pathetic segment was made possible by Prevagen and Chase. Their information is linked so you can let them know about the biased news they fund.

MSNBC’s All In
July 20, 2022
8:49:41 p.m. Eastern

CHRIS HAYES: For years, Republican politicians like Ted Cruz have gotten away with being neither for nor against marriage equality for LGBTQ folks. It’s because in 2015 the Supreme Court quite famously made marriage equality the law of the land, it found a constitutional right for people to marry the person they loved.

And it was no longer then alive political issue. And because voters supported by a massive margin, 2 to 1 in most of the polls, Republicans were kind of off the hook. But now, in the wake of the radical right-wing Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, and 50 years of precedent, and, crucially Justice Clarence Thomas explicitly calling to overturn the case that made marriage equality the law of the land.

Republicans in the Senate and the Congress are now having to pick a side. Because you see yesterday Democrats in the House brought up a bill that would federally protect existing same-sex marriages, make states recognize marriages from other states, and also repeal the odious Defense of Marriage Act.

The bill passed with a big bipartisan majority 267 to 157. 157 Republicans voting against. Which means most House Republicans voted against it. But again, 47 voted for it. So that bill now comes to the Senate. Which is why Senate Republicans are suddenly so squirrely on the issue.

(…)

Here’s the thing, because there is overwhelming support for this, the bill could clear the 60-vote filibuster threshold. It could get ten Republican votes and then become law. President can sign it. It’s really a rare example of what going on offense on quote, social or cultural issues looks like particularly when you have public opinion in your favor you press the advantage.

And here, either Republicans vote against this wildly popular provision, or you enshrine people’s marriages into law or both.
