Statistisches Bundesamt: Inflation im Januar auf niedrigstem Wert seit Jahren

Die Inflation in Deutschland hat sich zu Beginn des Jahres deutlich abgeschwächt. Das Statistische Bundesamt bestätigte erste Schätzungen vom Ende Januar, wonach sie im ersten Jahresmonat bei 2,9 Prozent lag. Damit war sie um 0,8 Prozentpunkte niedriger als im Dezember – und so niedrig wie zuletzt im Juni 2021. 

Verantwortlich dafür seien die sinkenden Energiepreise. Trotz wegfallender Preisbremsen und eines höheren CO₂-Preises verbilligten sich Energieprodukte den Statistikern zufolge um 2,8 Prozent im Jahresvergleich. Bei Haushaltsenergie gingen die Preise um 3,4 Prozent zurück, bei Kraftstoffen um zwei Prozent. Auch feste Brennstoffe, Heizöl, Strom und Gas wurden billiger, lediglich Fernwärme verteuerte sich im Jahresvergleich um 13,3 Prozent.

Waren die Energiepreise lange Zeit der wichtigste Inflationstreiber, ziehen sie die Teuerung inzwischen nach unten. Ohne Berücksichtigung der Energiepreise läge die Januarinflation bei 3,5 Prozent.

Preise für Lebensmittel steigen weiter, Verkehrstickets werden billiger

Weiterhin über der Gesamtinflation lag das Preiswachstum bei Nahrungsmitteln, die Wiesbadener Statistiker geben dafür einen Wert von 3,8 Prozent gegenüber dem Vorjahresmonat an. Damit schwächte sich die Teuerung im Vergleich zum Vormonat ab. Im Dezember lag sie noch bei 4,6 Prozent im Jahresvergleich.

Im Lebensmittelbereich waren vor allem Molkereiprodukte sowie Speisefette und -öle günstiger als vor einem Jahr. Deutlich teurer wurden hingegen Zucker und Süßwaren mit einem Wachstum von 10,7 Prozent, Obst mit 10,2 Prozent sowie Gemüse mit acht und Brot mit 5,4 Prozent. 

Bei anderen Waren betrug die Inflation 2,3 Prozent, Dienstleistungen waren 3,4 Prozent teurer als im Vorjahresmonat. Besonders stark verbilligten sich die Fahrkartenpreise im Nahverkehr durch das im vergangenen Jahr eingeführte Deutschlandticket: Es sorgte nach Angaben der Statistiker für einen Preisrückgang von 23,3 Prozent gegenüber Januar 2023. 

Im Gesamtjahr 2023 betrug die Inflation in Deutschland 5,9 Prozent. Für dieses Jahr rechnen Expertinnen und Experten mit einem Rückgang, allerdings mutmaßlich nicht auf den Zielbereich von etwa zwei Prozent.
