Ronwen Williams was named the best golakeeper at the 2023 African Cup of Nations(Afcon) which concluded on Sunday evening. Ivory Coast defeated Nigeria 2-1 to be crowned the new Afcon champions. Wiliams was Bafana’s best player at the Afcon making crutial saves to helped Bafana Bafana reach the semi-finals of the competition for the first time in 24 years. The Mamelodi Sundowns inspired his nation to the semi-finals of the tournament after producing four saves against Cape Verde in a shootout last week. On Saturday, he also made a penalty save to help Bafana finish third at the Afcon Williams beat Nigeria’s Stanley Nwabali to win the Golden Glove . The Bafana captain only conceded three goals at the tournament.
