Survivors from the horrific incident are also yet to surface.
Maalim noted that investigations into the tragic incident have been launched across the expansive Turkana County.
The attack came even as the state continues to institute security measures in the war-torn zone following a periodic eruption of cattle raids and bandit attacks.
The incident captured the attention of Turkana politicians including that of County Woman Representative Aspirant Cecilia Asinyen.
“I wish to condemn with the strongest terms possible the attack meted on the people of Napeitom village Kapedo/Napeitom Ward Turkana East by the suspected bandits.
“I call upon the all the security agencies to speed up the investigation and the perpetrators to face the law,” stated Asinyen.
Towards the end of July, Interior CS Fred Matiang’i confirmed that security operation in the area was top-notch denouncing claims by Deputy President William Ruto that the operation had been withdrawn to punish him politically.
In 2021, the state launched the operation in the region following an increase in cases of insecurity after six bodies were found dumped in a remote village in Baringo County.
At the time, the deceased persons were dressed in suits and neckties – a rare dressing style in a village where most residents are herders.
Swiftly, the Interior CS deployed security agencies to the area to tackle the menace.
