Police launched an investigation after a man was struck by a car in Nawton, Hamilton, on May 2 (file photo).
A Hamilton woman is facing a charge of murder in relation to an alleged hit-and-run incident.
Zhane Te Awhina Faiers, 24, appeared for callover in the High Court in Hamilton on Tuesday morning where, through her counsel Mark Sturm, she entered a plea of not guilty to a single charge of murder.
The charge relates to an incident in which a man in his 30s was struck by a silver Mazda car travelling at speed on Breckons Ave, Nawton about 5.30pm on May 2.
The victim, named on police charging documents as Ropati Shortland, was taken to Waikato Hospital with head injuries and has since died.
Justice Graham Lang allocated Faiers a trial date of June 19, 2023. The trial is set down for two weeks.
The judge remanded the Hamilton East woman on bail until her next appearance, which will be a case review hearing on October 4.
