Protesters disrupted the 24th Annual AIDS Conference in Montreal on August 1 to advocate for equal and widespread access to the monkeypox vaccine. The monkeypox outbreak was declared an international public health emergency on July 30 by the World Health Organization following an uptick in cases in dozens of countries. This footage shows protesters taking over the stage at the five-day conference, hosted by the International AIDS Society, and collectively chanting “share the shots” while holding signs that read “out of the stockpile, into our bones” and “global plan now!” There were a total of 23,620 confirmed monkeypox cases in 80 countries as of August 1, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
