The latest poll by Infotrak shows that Raila Odinga of Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition party is the most popular presidential candidate with an approval rating of 49 per cent.
Raila is followed by Kenya Kwanza’s William Ruto who has a 42 per cent approval rating.
The poll – released on Tuesday, August 2, six days to the election – showed that Roots Party’s George Luchiri Wajackoyah would get 2 per cent of the votes cast if elections were to be held today.

Agano Party’s David Mwaure would garner a paltry 0.3 per cent of the total votes cast while the undecided voters stood at 6 per cent.
The poll showed that both Raila and Ruto recorded an increase from the last popularity poll with Azimio La Umoja’s candidate growing his popularity by 6 per cent and his Kenya Kwanza’s competitor by 5 per cent. This, subsequently, reduced the number undecided voters.
The former Prime Minister posted the highest popularity in Nyanza and the Lower Eastern regions at 70 and 71 per cent respectively.
Ruto’s was more popular in the Mount Kenya region (66 per cent) than in his own backyard where he garnered 64 per cent in the North Rift region and 62 per cent in South Rift.
In Nairobi, the Azimio flagbearer remained the most popular candidate at 53 per cent compared to the Deputy President whose popularity stood at 37 per cent.
In the Mount Kenya region, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate is most popular in Kithure Kindiki’s Tharaka Nithi county at 81 per cent. Raila enjoys 32 per cent support in Meru county.
Some of the battleground counties include Tana River where Raila has 44 per cent while Ruto has 43 per cent. In Lamu, Raila and Ruto share 45 and 42 per cent approval ratings respectively.
Despite picking Martha Karua as his running mate, Raila still trails Ruto in Kirinyaga county with a 22 per cent approval rating against the DP’s 73 per cent.
Other battleground counties include Kajiado county where the margin between Raila and Ruto stands at 4 per cent with Azimio leading, Samburu where the difference stands at 1 per cent, and Bungoma where the difference in popularity between the two is at 3 per cent.
