Oregon police arrested Ben McLemore for his charges of first-degree rape along with other charges. Apparently, these crimes were committed in 2021 while the guard played with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Ben McLemore Faces Multiple Charges Of Sexual Crimes
KGW8 reports that police arrested McLemore at the Portland airport last Tuesday due to claims of first-degree rape, first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, and two counts of second-degree sexual abuse.
Authorities arraigned him on Wednesday at the Clackamas County Circuit Court. The Lake Oswego Police Department’s statement claims that the assault happened on October 3, 2021. An anonymous woman reported that she was sexually assaulted in a wealthy Lake Oswego neighborhood.
The police collected evidence of the crime, and detectives launched an investigation hand-in-hand. However, McLemore’s overseas games, which forced him to travel often, severely delayed the investigations.
However, the Clackamas County grand jury heard the evidence in February and created a secret indictment for McLemore.
The 31-year-old played a total of 556 games in the NBA, with the Sacramento Kings drafting him as the seventh overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft.
After playing 64 games for Portland in 2022, he signed with overseas teams like the Shandong Hi-Speed Kirin, AEK Athens, and Rio Breogan in 2023.
Users Complain About His Disgusting Behavior
The internet banded together to disown his actions, especially from their favorite teams. Some Rip City fans semi-jokingly complain about him wearing their jersey as his last team in the USA.
Meanwhile, others point out how easy it would have been for him to find a partner for whatever needs he had.
Another user points out how this could be a setup for a fake rape case. The possibility is still there, but it’s safe to assume the police did their due diligence in the case. However, if it is a fake, it would tarnish his reputation no matter what he did.
