This just in – the nubia Flip 5G, a strong contender for the most affordable flip foldable in the world (although Tecno’s Phantom V Flip could have a say in that).
nubia’s Flip starts at $499 for the 8/256GB model and goes up to $699 for the all-out 12/512GB one. The retail package is solid too with a two-piece case with the nubia logo on it, a 33W charger, and a USB cable. Far more expensive foldables have a lot less to work with out of the box.
Unboxing the nubia Flip
What makes the nubia Flip interesting aside from its competitive price, is the fact that it’s among the biggest in its category. When unfolded, it packs a 6.9-inch display, while the battery is also one of the biggest in class at 4,310mAh.
On a negative note, the nubia Flip is likely the heaviest flip foldable at 214g.
The nubia Flip’s has a 1.43-inch 466x466px OLED cover screen, which is basically a bolted-on smartwatch. The user interface here is also straight out of a smartwatch, but it does the job as a selfie viewfinder or to view and reply to the occasional text.
The cover screen
We’ll close this quick unboxing with a word on the build quality. The nubia Flip oozes quality. The metal frame has a matte textured finish that reminds us of the Titanium Galaxy S24 Ultra. The outer glass panels are matte as well, rounding off the non-glossy exterior.
Finally, the power button is a sexy red accent – something our MWC 2024 hands-on unit didn’t have.
