A new TIFA poll now shows that Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, would win the election with 53 per cent if Kenyans went to the ballot today.
In the poll, Kenya Kwanza coalition presidential flagbearer, William Ruto, came in second with a 45 per cent approval rating.
The poll results were generated from respondents who affirmed they would participate in the August 9 polls.

This has seen Raila’s popularity grow from 49 per cent and Ruto’s from 41 per cent in a previous poll that included undecided voters.
TIFA noted that the outcome of the election depends on voter turnout and this cannot be predicted by the survey.
Interestingly, the poll by TIFA showed that Ruto’s UDA party remained the most popular political party at 38 per cent followed by ODM at 32 per cent while President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party was ranked third with a 5 per cent popularity rating.

The poll indicated that in the last 23 months, the presidential contest trend showed notable changes, such as DP Ruto largely dominating the race from mid-2020 for nearly the next two years.
However, after political alliances and Odinga announcing he was running under Azimio La Umoja he, overtook the DP in May after he announced his running mate.
The poll also indicated that an analysis showed that about two-thirds planning to vote, expect their lives will improve within just one year if their preferred presidential candidate (and running- mate) enters the State House.
Notably, the research firm on Tuesday pointed out that DP Ruto had reduced the margin between him and Raila to 18 per cent this month compared to a 25 per cent difference in the month of July.
The poll showed that Raila remained the most preferred presidential candidate in Nairobi county with a 52 per cent approval rating while Ruto’s approval rating stood at 34 per cent.
Nairobi Senator Johnson Arthur Sakaja’s support increased from 23 per cent to 53 per cent, making him the most popular gubernatorial aspirant in the city. Polycarp Igathe’s popularity stood at 36 per cent.
