China’s largest electrified-vehicle manufacturer, BYD Co., has selected major European dealer Hedin Mobility Group to distribute its passenger vehicles in Sweden and Germany.
Under an agreement the two companies signed this week, Hedin Mobility Group plans to open the first store in Sweden in October. It will be located in Stockholm, BYD said.
Hedin Mobility Group also plans to open a number of dealerships in Germany, with the first to begin operation in October, the Chinese company said, without disclosing the location of the stores.
BYD said it expects to start delivering vehicles to customers in Sweden and Germany in the fourth quarter.
Hedin Mobility Group is the second European car dealer BYD has signed up this year.
In July, it struck a deal with Dutch dealer Louwman Group to distribute electrified vehicles in the Netherlands. Under the deal, Louwman Group is set to open the first store for BYD in Amsterdam in September.
BYD stopped producing gasoline-powered light vehicles in March. In the first half of the year, it sold 641,350 EVs and plug-in hybrids globally, more than triple the tally a year earlier.
Hedin Mobility Group, based in Molndal, Sweden, operates more than 230 car dealerships in northern and western European countries.
