In a press release, the award-wining chef said that Season III promised a sensory journey through food and wine, featuring reimagined classics and exciting new dishes.
“My team and I are more conscious than ever of preservation, not only with ingredients but also places, experiences, and the people who continue to support us,” said van der Westhuizen.
Reservations open 1 August 2024, and the experience will cost R3200 per person.
He added that ingredients would be sourced and prepared with “the utmost care and consideration” and presented with the mesmerizing flair he is known for.
“Season III will showcase international fine dining and place a special emphasis on hearty local cuisine.”
While van Heerden may not be as well-known as van der Westhuizen, she is a rising star in his team. She initially studied for a BSc in Microbiology but decided to pursue her dream of being a chef instead. She lives this dream at JAN Innovation Studio in Cape Town and recently spent three months with him in France.
Preserving heritage
La Motte CEO Hein Koegelenberg emphasized the estate’s commitment to preserving heritage while embracing innovation.
He said that JAN Franschhoek was just the tip of the iceberg in an exciting new chapter for La Motte, with further developments planned for later in the year.
“As a family, we’ve always treasured our heritage, but we are also all for renewal and energy. The third eagerly awaited season of JAN Franschhoek kicks off with the announcement of an extensive new offering at La Motte to be rolled out towards the end of the year.”
He added that the gifts of the earth inspired JAN season three. The dining experience will also showcase the talent and flair of van der Westhuizen’s gastronomic artistry.
“What a wonderful way to share our passion for quality and authenticity.”
