Kaizer Chiefs miss out on another key transfer after Khanyisa Mayo and Elias Mokwana, find out the latest transfer news.
Chiefs faced previous recruitment setbacks, as they failed to secure their rumoured transfer targets, Mayo of Cape Town City and Mokwana of Sekhukhune United. Despite their interest, the club has not managed to bring these key players into their squad, marking a significant disappointment in their transfer strategy.
Now, Chiefs are on the verge of missing out on another promising young talent, Simphiwe Sithole from Golden Arrows. Despite Kaizer Chiefs scouts initially showing strong interest in Sithole, who impressed with his performances in the Golden Arrows DDC team, the player will join Polokwane City instead.
“Chiefs were the first ones to show interest in the player (Simphiwe) Sithole,” a source revealed, as quoted by Soccer Laduma. “Their scouts had been monitoring him from the Golden Arrows DDC team and they even inquired about him. Then AmaZulu also inquired about him. But he has signed for Polokwane City. I can’t really say how long the contract is, but he has joined them in pre-season and he will be officially announced soon.”
Sithole’s move driven for regular game time
Further insights into Sithole’s decision reveal his motivation for joining Polokwane City. A second insider explained that Sithole prioritised a move to Polokwane City due to the promise of more playing time, which he believed was not guaranteed at Arrows.
“Since last season he had been training with Arrows’ first team and was on the verge of signing for them, but he has preferred to move to Polokwane where he feels his chances of playing are more than at Arrows too,” the insider stated. “He is a brilliant young player in the mould of the late Gift Leremi, and given the chance, he could be playing in the national team soon.”
Sithole’s move to Polokwane City marks a crucial step in his career as he aims to establish himself in the Premiership and potentially attract national team attention. This significant decision underscores his ambition to secure a regular spot in the first team and advance his professional career.
