Kevin Durant’s rare poor scoring performance didn’t stop the Phoenix Suns from winning.
The Suns improved their record to 4-1 following their sensational 125-119 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Durant, who is usually the best player on the court for the Suns, struggled to score vs. LA.
The Slim Reaper finished the game with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists in 39 minutes of playing time. Unfortunately, even that solid performance wasn’t simply up to Durant’s standards.
It led to an outburst among KD fans on social media for all the wrong reasons.
Kevin Durant points out a fan’s problem
The 2x NBA champion finished scoring all 18 points in the first half of the game. Despite having a scoreless second half, getting the win was ultimately more important for Durant.
He wrote a sarcastic tweet on X congratulating the Suns for the win while taking a subtle jab at people who placed parlays on him and lost. A fan was offended by the post and called out KD. To which the 36-year-old gave a savage response.
“No, you think it’s a game of gambling with your life like this every night. Be more responsible,” Durant wrote.
Another fan defended the initial comment by tweeting: “Stop blaming people who gambled on your trash performance last night 0 points in the second half you’re washed.”
Durant finished the interaction by calling out the fan’s ‘gambling problem.’
“Stop blaming me for losing money because you have a gambling problem.”
The 14x NBA All-Star has never backed down from an argument with his fans on social media. This was yet another interaction proving that you don’t mess with the Slim Reaper.
Durant can add another jewel to his crown
KD is widely regarded as the best scorer of this generation. Evidently, it’s only fair for him to etch his name into basketball record books by the time he retires from the NBA.
Well, he can get one step closer this season by becoming only the eighth player in NBA history to score more than 30,000 career points. Right now, Durant has 29,058 points to his name and with his current scoring average for the season, he should easily become a member of the 30k points club.
However, a more important goal for Durant will be to help the Suns lift the illustrious Larry O’Brien trophy. If he and the Suns have another underwhelming season, it could damage his legacy forever.
