BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 17. A joint venture
for the Caspian, Black Sea, and European ‘green energy corridor’
has already been set up in Bucharest, Romania, said Fagan
Abdurahmanov, Head of the Renewable Energy Zones Development
Department at the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency (AREA),
Trend reports.
He made the remark as he addressed the energy transition
investment forum for Central Asia at COP29.
“One key part of our broader initiative is the creation of a new
Energy Corridor with Central Asia. We’ve already signed a joint
communiqué and memorandum of understanding with Kazakhstan and
Uzbekistan. This energy project also includes the development of a
green energy corridor,” he explained.
Abdurahmanov noted that the technical assignment for the project
was finalized in a short time, with an Italian company selected as
the consultant to prepare a technical study. This study will be
similar to the one being conducted for the Black Sea route.
“The next joint venture for the Central Asia corridor will have
its headquarters in Baku,” he added.
He also mentioned that the parties are now preparing for the
next phase of the project.
