LBC broadcaster Nick Ferrari has issued a stern warning to Donald Trump following the results of a Fox News poll, which revealed 59 per cent of voters feel the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency’s tactics are “too aggressive”. The poll came after Trump’s decision to deploy thousands of federal immigration agents to Minneapolis in what the US leader described as a crackdown on “the worst of the worst”. However, the operation has sparked a wave of controversy after two US citizens were fatally shot by federal agents in separate incidents. One victim was Alex Pretti, an intensive care nurse, while the other was a 37-year-old mother named Renee Good.
Raising the issue with ICE on Friday’s instalment of his LBC Radio show, Ferrari told listeners: “Is this the Trump tipping point? There normally comes an event where the electorate says: ‘Up with this, we cannot put.’
Respondents to a survey done by Fox News – I stress Fox News again – found that almost 60 per cent of respondents believe that ICE have gone too far. The tactics were too much.”
He added: “If you make halting illegal immigration pretty much the main plank of your electoral pitch, you then fund ICE agents tens of billions of dollars, and allow them to dress almost as a paramilitary force, complete with balaclavas, bullet-proof vests, guns, sidearms. Whatever else, pepper spray…”
The LBC host then issued a warning to the US Leader, adding: “Something is going to go wrong.”
“And if you laude the tactics of effectively dragging people from cars, rounding up children, going into restaurants, dragging people out of the door, screaming at staff, something’s going to go wrong, and it did fatally.”
The Fox News poll was carried out from Friday through Monday (January 23 to January 26).
Fox News Chief Political Analyst Brit Hume stated: “We have a compassionate people, and even illegal immigrants are not beyond the scope of that compassion. I think the administration is being seen as having gone too far on this, and the polls certainly suggest that.”
