Police say their work is not done yet after arresting and charging two men over the shooting murder of 38-year-old Abdullah Bahsa.
Police allege the arrested pair are among seven men who waited five hours for Bahsa at his Lidcombe home before fatally shooting him and assaulting his friend.
“There’s still a number of offenders outstanding in relation to this investigation,” Superintendent Robert Toynton said.
The arrests come as several streets were shut down again at Lidcombe today after another shooting scare.
Bahsa, 38, was shot in the abdomen at a unit block on Shale Street in Lidcombe just after 4am yesterday, and died shortly after arriving at hospital.
His friend was allegedly assaulted and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Later in the day, emergency services were called to Boronia Street in Ermington after reports that a car had crashed into a parked vehicle.
When they arrived at the scene at 1.30pm, police say they found a firearm in the car and arrested the driver.
Exclusive pictures after the crash obtained by 9News show the alleged killer, Alpay Albayir, telling residents he did not have his licence before he is seen rummaging through the vehicle.
“I had it, I gave my phone to my brother,” he told a resident.
The 21-year-old was taken to Gladesville Police Station, where he was charged with murder and wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Hours later, Auburn detectives and the SCC Homicide Squad executed a crime scene warrant at a home on Spurway Street in Ermington and arrested 22-year-old Joshua Yeboah.
He was taken to Gladesville Police Station, where he was also charged with murder.
Yeboah’s mother told 9News that he was a “good boy” who was studying at university until he mixed with the wrong crowd about four months ago.
The two men faced court today and made no application for bail. They will remain in custody until they face court again in May.
