Start Your Japan Trip Luggage-Free with SAGAWA’s New Narita Airport (NRT) Service

  • Written by: Guest Contributor

Date published: 1 August 2026

After a long flight, the last thing most travelers want to do is drag a heavy suitcase through crowded stations and trains. It can make the journey from Narita Airport to your hotel far more tiring than expected.
Opened on July 22, 2026, SAGAWA Baggage Delivery & Storage offers a convenient solution. Operated by Sagawa Express, one of Japan’s leading logistics companies, the service allows travelers to deliver or temporarily store their luggage soon after arriving at Narita Airport.

Why Travel Hands-Free in Japan?

Japan’s Tourism Agency and many travel guides encourage visitors to explore without large luggage. Rather than simply being an added luxury, hands-free travel can make getting around Japan’s busy cities considerably easier.

Travel Easier in Japan’s Transport System

Japan’s railway network is exceptionally convenient, but major stations can be large and difficult to navigate. Transfers may involve long underground passages, multiple levels, and crowded escalators or elevators. Carrying a large suitcase through these stations can be stressful, particularly during the morning and evening rush hours.

Make the Most of Your Arrival Day

International flights often arrive well before hotel check-in begins. Sending your luggage ahead means you can start sightseeing, shopping, or dining immediately instead of making a separate trip to your hotel just to leave your bags.

More Freedom in Shops, Restaurants, and Attractions

Many cafés, restaurants, shops, and traditional buildings in Japan have limited space for large suitcases. Exploring without bulky luggage makes it easier to enter smaller venues and move comfortably through crowded sightseeing areas.

Large Coin Lockers Can Fill Quickly

Many major stations have large coin lockers that can accommodate suitcases, and some stations offer online guides for checking locker locations and availability. However, the number of large lockers is limited, and availability can change quickly, meaning they may be full by the time you arrive. Searching for another locker while carrying your luggage can also take valuable time away from sightseeing.

What Is SAGAWA Baggage Delivery & Storage?

SAGAWA counters have opened in the arrival areas of Narita Airport Terminals 1 and 2. They provide three main services.

・Same-Day Hotel Delivery: Have your luggage delivered later that day to a hotel within one of the designated service areas.

・Standard Delivery: Send your luggage to destinations throughout Japan. Delivery generally takes several days.

・Temporary Luggage Storage: Leave your bags securely at the airport while exploring the surrounding area or waiting for your next journey.

Same-Day Hotel Delivery Areas

Same-Day Hotel Delivery Areas

Drop off your luggage early enough in the day, and it can be delivered to your hotel in time for check-in. This allows you to begin sightseeing, shopping, or dining without carrying a suitcase.

・10 Major Tokyo Wards: Shinagawa, Shinjuku, Ota, Shibuya, Chuo, Bunkyo, Chiyoda, Taito, Minato, and Koto (Covering popular spots like Asakusa, Shinjuku, and Ginza).

・Urayasu City (Chiba): Home to Tokyo Disney Resort Drop your bags at Narita and head straight to the theme park!

How to Use SAGAWA Baggage Delivery & Storage
Luggage Delivery

Visit the SAGAWA counter in the arrival area of Narita Airport Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 and provide the staff with your hotel and delivery details. After confirming the destination, delivery time, baggage size, and fee, leave your luggage at the counter.
For same-day hotel delivery, luggage must be dropped off by 2 PM. Be sure to confirm that your accommodation is within the eligible service area and can receive the luggage on your behalf.
Same-Day Delivery Prices
Same-day delivery fees are based on the total of the suitcase’s three dimensions: length, width, and height.
・Up to 60 cm: 1,570 yen
・Up to 100 cm: 2,180 yen
・Up to 140 cm, including suitcases: 2,840 yen
Prices include tax and the 660-yen airport handling charge. See the official website for the full price list and service details.
Temporary Luggage Storage
Travelers who only need to leave their bags for a few hours can reserve the temporary storage service online in advance by making a reservation on the official website.
After completing the reservation, you will receive a QR code by email. Show the code to the staff at the SAGAWA counter when dropping off your luggage, then follow the instructions provided for collecting it later.

Future Plans: Departure Counters

Similar to their luggage delivery service to Haneda Airport, SAGAWA plans to open counters in the Departure Lobby as well. Soon, you will be able to send your luggage from your hotel to Narita Airport, allowing you to enjoy your last day in Japan completely hands-free before your flight!

FAQ

Q: I don’t speak Japanese. Can I still use it?

Absolutely! Sagawa’s website has details in English, and staff are accustomed to assisting international travelers.

Q: Can I send luggage to an Airbnb or vacation rental?

Delivery is possible if someone is present to receive it. Deliveries cannot be made to unstaffed facilities or auto-locked buildings. Please check with your host beforehand.

Start Exploring Japan Without Your Suitcase

From sightseeing and shopping to dining and cultural experiences, there is plenty to enjoy from the moment you arrive in Japan. Leaving your luggage at the airport can make that first day considerably more comfortable.
After landing at Narita Airport, visit a SAGAWA Baggage Delivery & Storage counter to send or store your suitcase. With your hands free, you can begin exploring Japan straight away.

Clear examples do more than decorate an explanation: they show how an idea behaves under recognizable conditions. In education and software documentation alike, strong illustrations begin with a defined goal, then reveal the steps, assumptions, and result without unnecessary detail. A practical test example should state the input, expected output, and boundary condition, because these elements show whether a rule works beyond the simplest case. Including a contrasting case also helps readers distinguish a valid application from a tempting but incorrect one, while concise notes explain why the outcomes differ. When examples are updated with current data and checked against the underlying rule, they remain useful across classrooms, product guides, and professional training.
