This morning the roof of a private school, Al-Khair Education Center in Dir Colony, Peshawar, collapsed onto classrooms below. Rescue workers pulled children from the rubble. Lady Reading Hospital reported at least 27–32 students (mostly under 13) and one female teacher dead, with dozens injured, some critically. The death toll was expected to rise. Police said the structure was weak and overloaded; the school owner was arrested. An investigation was ordered. The incident is the latest in a series of building collapses in Pakistan linked to poor construction standards.
