Mr Andrews has confirmed he and his family have received violent threats from opponents of the Victorian Government’s controversial pandemic management legislation.
“We have seen extremists, rabid anti-vaxxer and others making all sorts of threats, threats against me, my wife and my kids,” Mr Andrews said.
In disturbing scenes earlier this week, some protesters in Melbourne erected a mock gallows with a dummy of Mr Andrews hanging from it.
The premier says he and his family are used to the strains of high political office.
“My family is okay. They are used to some of the difficult part of this job, but this job is a great, great honour.”
