The social media platform launched by Donald Trump and his partners is raising concerns with Google Play due to its lack of content moderation.
The Truth Social app is still not available for Android devices because, according to Axios, the Trump-adjacent company has not put in place a sufficient system to monitor what’s posted online.
“On Aug. 19, we notified Truth Social of several violations of standard policies in their current app submission and reiterated that having effective systems for moderating user-generated content is a condition of our terms of service for any app to go live on Google Play,” Google told Axios.
Former California Congressman Devin Nunez told a conservative media outlet last week that he wasn’t sure why Truth Media, which got off to a very bumpy start in early 2022, was slow to add Truth Social to its menu.
According to Axios, Google said it has been informed Truth Social is working to comply with its concerns that the platform could promote content that incites violence. The former president’s commitment to Truth Social came after he was banned from Twitter when his followers stormed the U.S. Capitol to stop the certification of the 2020 presidential election Trump lost, but continues to lie about on social media.
Truth Social reportedly could, but so far has not, provided Android users with a way of accessing the app without Google’s help. Fewer than half the nation’s smartphones use Android operating systems.

Truth Social users who can’t get enough of the former president’s thoughts got their money’s worth this week. Rolling Stone reports that Trump posted or re-posted more than 60 messages on Truth Social Tuesday morning to promote conspiracy theories from sources, including the infamous QAnon collective.
On Monday, the 76-year-old former reality TV performer wrote to his followers that he was the rightful winner of the 2020 election and that a “new election” should be held “immediately” if his first wish isn’t granted.
On Wednesday, he expressed gratitude to actor Jon Voight, who likened an FBI search for classified documents in Trump’s Florida estate to “the third world war,” on Truth Social.
