This happens all the time; you join a Google Meet session where one person’s volume is manageable, but the other person’s volume is five times as loud. It can be annoying having one person’s audio basically blow out your eardrums. Fortunately, Google Meet is getting an update that will automatically adjust the volume of the people in the meeting.
A sad fact about video calls is the fact that every member has a different audio setup. This means that one member could be barely audible while another one could sound like they’re yelling into their microphone. It just makes the whole experience that much more annoying.
But Google Meet has a fix for this volume issue
However, Google just announced in a new blog post that it’s going to fix that little issue. When a new participant joins the Google Meet call, it will automatically adjust their volume. It’ll do its best to make all of the volume levels equal across all members. This is great for when a person just enters the group. No one likes the sudden burst of sound when someone enters the chat with a loud microphone.
If you’re looking forward to this feature, then you shouldn’t have to wait long for it to drop. There’s a chance that it’s already available for you. If not, then it should drop sometime over the next two weeks.
In order for you to use the feature, you’ll need to have the noise cancellation feature activated. To activate it, go to the Google Meet site. Before you join a meeting, click the menu button on the top right of the window and go to your Settings. There, go to Audio and you’ll see the option to enable noise cancellation.
Now, since this is a Google Workspace feature, it’s not coming to all of the tiers. This update is coming to Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, the Teaching and Learning Upgrade, Frontline, and Individual customers.
