AMAC Poll: ADC’s Moses Paul rejects results, cites irregularities

Abuja – The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship election, Moses Paul, on Monday rejected the outcome of Saturday’s poll, alleging widespread irregularities and voter suppression.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Paul insisted that the declared results did not reflect the true will of residents and maintained that his political movement remained strong despite the official outcome.

“Our movement was never built on the fragile foundation of titles; it was built on the enduring foundation of truth. And truth does not expire with an election,” he said, urging supporters to remain resolute.

The ADC flagbearer highlighted a series of alleged infractions that marred the election, including movement restrictions due to curfew, manipulation and alteration of polling unit results, attacks and intimidation of ADC agents by security operatives, vote buying in several wards, and delays in the arrival of election materials in key areas such as Kabusa.

Paul also referenced the tragic death of Musa Abubakar at the Gwagwa polling unit, saying he was killed while resisting attempts to subvert the election.

“These actions undermine the integrity of the electoral process and erode public confidence in our democracy,” Paul said.

Despite rejecting the results, the candidate struck a defiant tone, expressing confidence that the political momentum and awakening generated during the campaign would ultimately reshape the council and the country.

“To every volunteer, supporter, elder, youth, and woman who carried this movement in their hearts: you have given me something far greater than victory; you have given me purpose,” he added.
