With over six weeks remaining until the January transfer window, Kaizer Chiefs have a lot to consider.
Amakhosi have shown improvement this season under their new coach, Nasreddine Nabi, but the club still has a long way to go if they want to catch up to their rivals, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
Last season, Chiefs lost six points to both teams in the league, which contributed to their finishing 10th in the Betway Premiership. Under Nabi’s guidance, Kaizer Chiefs signed seven new players this season. Out of these, five have already made a significant impact at the club: Gaston Sirino, Inacio Miguel, Bradley Cross, Rushwin Dortely, and Njabulo Blom all seem to have settled well under the Tunisian coach.
After playing seven matches, Amakhosi have lost three and have missed out on two cup competitions. This situation highlights the need for the club to recruit more players to remain competitive.
In recent months, Chiefs have been linked with several players, including Bongani Zungu, Percy Tau, Oswin Appollis, and Asanele Velebayi.
Kaizer Chiefs have a lot to think about
Zungu is currently a free agent after parting ways with Sundowns in June; however, it seems he is not keen on returning to the PSL.
Velebayi was set to join Kaizer Chiefs, but Cape Town Spurs rejected their offer. As for Appollis, his move to North Africa fell through, but it remains to be seen if Amakhosi can afford the Bafana Bafana attacker. Another player that Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly interested in is Percy Tau.
The former Downs star has struggled during his time with the Red Devils over the past 12 months and is likely to leave in January.
Can Chiefs make any big signing in January?
