How would you like to set sail on the waves in the lovely Sydney harbour, with the wind gushing in your hair (if you’re bald; with the wind in your arms and legs)? The best opportunity is to go on a boating trip with your loved ones. Here are some interesting things you’ll come across if you’re here.
Things to do
Sydney Harbour is one of the world’s most scenic natural harbours; there are many companies offering excellent recreational vessels that are perfectly safe for beginners with no experience. If you’re here on Boxing Day, you can catch the world-famous start of the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race to Tasmania. You can even go back in time on a heritage cruise, sipping on a glass of champagne and eating caviar.
Kayaking
As the harbour is only 30 mins away from apartment hotels in Sydney such as the gorgeous Oaks Sydney Castlereagh Suites, you can easily come here if you need something fun and different to do. You can hire a Kayak and have a peaceful, quiet time on the water with your loved ones. There are also kayaking tours departing from The Royal Botanic Gardens and a few other iconic places around the city.
Sydney Harbour bridge transit zone
The transit zone was created to create a safe passage through the very best busy part of the harbour. As you can only travel through the zone to get outside or to an area nearby, make sure that you have a proper itinerary planned. It is recommended that you travel with a tour group. Except in an emergency situation, vessels aren’t allowed to anchor within the zone or exceed the speed of 15 knots.
