Thierry Henry has disclosed that Liberia President George Weah helped shaped his career into a better player.
The former Arsenal and France striker is regarded as one of the best strikers in football, having helped Arsenal dominate in the early 2000’s.
But according to the Frenchman, he modeled his style from watching George Weah, Ronaldo and Romario play.
“We talking about some of the world’s greatest striker. He wasn’t playing with a great national team team, less impact but I’m telling you, raw power, sheer power, technique and speed. I’ve never seen that. When he was moving on the field, I was moving at home too, stadium was moving,” he said as quoted by Tribuna.

“George Weah, Romario, and Ronaldo changed the game for me. Because for me it was the first time as a striker I saw players that could score on their own. Pick the ball up anywhere and score.
“Because before as a number nine, people would say ‘stay within the line of the box, don’t move too much, don’t go to the wings, don’t drop, stay’. And then I saw George Weah. And then I saw Ronaldo. And I saw Romario in a different way before those two.
“But those guys could take the ball and go score themselves. And it was like ‘hang on a minute, someone has lied to me’.”
George Weah remains the only African player to win the FIFA best player award.
