Welcome to football.london‘s Arsenal live blog on Saturday, January 15.
We are now nearly halfway through the January transfer window and the Gunners have been linked with a host of players across Europe as Mikel Arteta looks to bring in a midfielder and a centre-forward to bolster his squad.
Arteta’s side are extremely short in the middle of the park after allowing Ainsley Maitland-Niles to leave for AS Roma on loan, whilst Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
However, they could be set for an immediate boost if Arthur Melo signs on loan in the coming days.
The Gunners have missed the deadline for him to be available against Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby tomorrow – a game that is now in doubt after Arsenal requested it be postponed – but the club are still hopeful about signing the midfielder.
Meanwhile, other targets, in particular Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic, continue to be linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Although Arsenal’s striker situation isn’t as desperate as it’s midfield situation is, with the futures of Alexandre Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all uncertain, it’s understandable that a striker is also on Arteta’s wish list.
So, with all that in mind, stay tuned to football.london for the very latest Arsenal-related transfer news in our dedicated live blog below.
