Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund is thrilled to honor and celebrate Denese Bogard of Mississippi County as the May 2023 Volunteer of the Month.
For two dozen years, Denese has graciously given her time to help single parent scholars complete their education and find a career with family-supporting wages.
As the Educational Advisor for the Educational Opportunity Center TRiO Program at Arkansas Northeastern College, she recruits new single parent recipients and mentors ASPSF’s current students.
“It’s easy to say that Denese is the reason we have most of our students from Mississippi County,” ASPSF Program Manager Carrie Allen said. “When she identifies eligible students that come through her TRiO program, she sends them our way and will often sit down at a computer with them and help them fill out our application.”
But Denese doesn’t stop there! She also performs student interviews, arranges scholarship award ceremonies, and assists with development workshops.
“Denese is invaluable to our program, particularly in Mississippi County, and is truly a special volunteer,” Carrie said.
When asked why she loves ASPSF, Denese says she’s passionate about education, which transformed her own life.
“Education changes lives and transforms single parents into productive parents and students, and it unifies and uplifts our community one student at a time,” Denese said.
Thank you, Denese, for giving back to ASPSF and helping single parent families on their journey to a better life!
