Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund is proud to recognize Tyler Dunegan as Volunteer of the Month for August 2022.
Tyler has been a longtime volunteer with Single Parent Scholarship in Mississippi County and is a vital part of the team in Northeast Arkansas. During Covid, Tyler passed out checks to local students at his office, and he was the primary interviewer in Mississippi County, jumping right into conducting interviews through Zoom to keep the application process moving along.
As civic groups began meeting in person again on a regular basis, Tyler set up speaking opportunities for Program Manager Shaila Creekmore in both Osceola and Blytheville and attended those meetings with her to encourage people to join him in volunteering and/or giving to ASPSF financially.
Tyler says his favorite part of volunteering with ASPSF is interviewing the students because you get to know them, discover what their needs are, and help provide direction and help during those interviews. Tyler has also previously helped with social media in the Northeast Region.
Tyler is a public servant both professionally and in his additional duties. He works for the Arkansas Secretary of State’s Office as an Outreach Coordinator while also serving as a reserve officer for the Blytheville Police Department. Tyler is a Certified Municipal Official through the Arkansas Municipal League and serves on the League’s Executive Committee. Tyler was appointed in 2017 by Gov. Asa Hutchinson to serve on the Mississippi River Parkway Commission. Tyler is a Rotarian and has served in multiple roles.
Tyler and his wife, Carolyn, have three children and have served as foster parents for several years. They attend First Baptist Church in Osceola.
Tyler’s involvement in Mississippi County and his connections to various organizations and community leaders have been a great help to ASPSF as we continue to inform the public about what we do and invite single parents to apply. Thank you for all you do, Tyler!
