Yanga SC forward Stephane Aziz Ki has revealed that Kaizer Chiefs were interested in signing him.
The 28-year-old was linked with a move to Amakhosi two years ago but nothing materialised. He has since joined Tanzanian giants Young Africans where he scored 21 goals last season.
The Burkina Faso international scored two goals for Yanga during the Toyota Cup match against Kaizer Chiefs. Speaking to iDiski Times, Aziz Ki admitted that Amakhosi were interested in Yanga impressed him more.
“Yes, I know they [Chiefs] wanted me,” Aziz told iDiski Times.
“But when someone comes and shows you this respect because the President of Yanga came to see me when I was playing against RS Berkane in Morocco. After that, they came to my family and spoke to me in front of my family, my mother; that was already too much for me, that was special.
Aziz explains why he joined Yanga and not Kaizer Chiefs
“This showed me their seriousness; they came all the way from Dar es Salaam to my family, not just call and say, ‘Aziz, we’ve got an offer for you’. I appreciated and trusted this project and the way it came also; I was ready to come and join them.”
The Yanga star also criticised Kaizer Chiefs youngster Mfundo Vilakazi for showboating.
“I respect my job; football is my job. I love football and I like to learn,” Aziz told FARPost.
“The football I see at a high level, you will never see Ronaldo or the top players do that. This is a waste of time.”
Vilakazi slammed by Yanga’s Aziz for showboating
Despite going down 2-0 after half-time, Vilakazi was again seen doing tricks with the ball. The Yanga star said football is about creating chances and not what he saw from the Kaizer Chiefs teenager
