Bafana Bafana will face Liberia in home and away matches in March for a place in the Africa Cup of Nations in 2023.
The maths is simple this time. Something that Bafana Bafana fans will enjoy following the infamous “Dance of Shame” at the end of the Afcon 2012 qualification run.

Bafana know the equation this time
Back on that occasion, the team celebrated a 0-0 draw against Sierra Leone in Mbombela thinking they had done enough to qualify for the showpiece event. That had not. And for the second successive edition of Africa Cup of Nations finals Bafana sat on the sidelines.
Following Zimbabwe’s disqualification, Bafana need to win on home soil and avoid defeat to Liberia to qualify for Afcon 2023. This is assuming that Morocco, who held the fortunes of Africa so well in Qatar last year, beat them in their final game. Two wins and Bafana are definitely through.

“You just need to think about the magnitude of what’s at stake for these two games,” says Ronwen Williams as reported by SABC Sport.
“It’s Afcon qualifiers, it’s massive. It’s probably the biggest tournament in the African continent so obviously, I’ve got my South African hat now, being in the South African camp. We know what’s at stake, massive games coming up and the boys are looking forward to it,” added the goalkeeper.

It’s been a while
Bafana have not played in four months when they faced Angola and Mozambique in friendly matches. They managed only a win and draw in those friendlies.
South Africa will host Liberia at Orlando Stadium on Friday, 24 March evening before flying out to Monrovia.
