Seven soldiers and several residents in the Kangon Garacce community in Zamfara State have reportedly been killed in an ambush by bandits.
The attack occurred on Monday afternoon in the Kangon Garacce community, which is located in the Dangulbi district of the Maru Local Government Area, and several residents were killed.
The troops were responding to a distress call regarding the attack on the community when they were ambushed by the bandits, according to Lawal Dangulbi, a resident of the Dangulbi community.
Dangulbi said the bandits divided themselves into groups, with some launching a direct attack on the community while others stationed themselves outside of the community to prevent the military from assisting the villagers.
He added that the bandits ambushed the troops and killed seven of them, noting that the attack also claimed the lives of at least 20 civilians.
