New pictures and video have been released by developers working on the regeneration of Battersea Power Plant showcasing the dizzying viewing platform for its chimney lift which is set to become the centrepiece of the landmark’s new attractions. The glass platform can be seen perched at the very top of the northwest chimney and may be up and running for visitors as soon as September this year.
The ambition for those creating the unique new viewpoint is for the 30 person capacity chimney lift to become one of London’s must-visit experiences, bringing visitors to the very top of the iconic grade II listed building for an unforgettable panoramic view of Central London and beyond.
The lift and viewing platform will be the climax of the redeveloped power station’s new exhibition, starting in Turbine Hall A, which will take visitor’s on a journey through the life and history of the building, first constructed in the 1930s nearly a century ago.

The chimney lift will be operated by IMG, the same company who bring the annual Winter Wonderland event to Hyde Park at Christmas time, and shows the ambition of the new development project at the power plant, now closing in on its completion.
The £9billion project aims to transform Battersea and the power station itself into one of London’s most desirable riverside neighbourhoods, as well as providing space for shops, restaurants, cultural space and venues, as well as 19 acres of public space.
The development is so eagerly anticipated TfL have extended London Underground’s Northern line to service the new community hub, the new Zone 1 stop set to be known as Battersea Power Station station.
