The City of Cranbrook says flights in and out of Canadian Rockies International Airport were cancelled Monday evening after a wildfire sparked nearby.
The airport is closed until further notice, the city said on social media shortly before 5 p.m. A 6:18 p.m. WestJet flight from Calgary was cancelled as well as a WestJet departure to Calgary scheduled for 8:50 p.m.

Passengers with scheduled flights should check with their airline.
Canadian Rockies airport mainly serves flights to and from Calgary and Vancouver, as well as some international arrivals, with about 135,000 passengers each year.
The airport is owned by the city and operated by Elevate Airport Inc., and is about midway between Cranbrook and Kimberley in southeast B.C.
