As 2022 winds down, there’s a sense of jubilation at how far we’ve survived, notwithstanding the challenges we collectively faced. What progress we’ve made. It encourages us to believe that 2023 will be a breakthrough year, when we will have grown in wisdom and strength beyond our wildest dreams. Toes crossed, hopefully.
Speaking of, we have compiled a list of the top spots in Singapore where you can best dine and drink to celebrate the upcoming year and also the perfect spots to view the New Year’s Eve fireworks.
LeVeL33
Fireworks are a spectacle best seen up close. We think the view from the Terrace at LeVeL33 is one of the greatest around. This open-air area, which encompasses the entirety of MBFC Tower 1 and looks out over Marina Bay, provides a very immersive New Year’s Eve fireworks experience. A special five-course Southeast Asian-inspired meal, including Sustainable Australian Kingfish Ceviche served with wasted grain crackers, smoked salmon roe, pomelo and dragonfruit, completes diners’ New Year’s Eve Set Dinner menu, which is only available on 31 December 2022.
Altro Zafferano
Another winning option is to lounge your way into 2023 at Altro Zafferano. Very timely as they will throw a Countdown Party at their Terrace Lounge. From 9 p.m. onwards, you can reserve table seats for S$1800+ (up to 4 guests) or sofa seats for $3400+ (up to 8 guests), both of which include an assortment of nibbles and Cristal. From 9p.m. until 2a.m., a live DJ will be spinning tunes, and you may close your eyes and picture yourself dancing to the music while witnessing a beautiful display of colour.
Kinky Restaurant + Bar
The higher, the better the view. Another fantastic option is Kinki’s New Year’s Eve Rooftop Boozy Package (S$688 ++, up to six guests), which features the Rooftop Snack Platter, a sharing portion of bar snacks and two bottles of Mot & Chandon Champagne, a choice of spirit by bottle, and three of Kinki’s signature cocktails, such as their Earlgroni. A special guest DJ will play music from 5 p.m. till 3 a.m.
Path
Path makes it easy to eat, drink, and be joyful by offering a special holiday drinks promotion for dinner on 30 and 31 December. The team offers a Flight of 3, which consists of champagne, white wine, and red wine, for a very generous $42++ per person, but we’re more interested in the free-flow offer. For a little $70++, you and your guests can enjoy two hours of open bar on us of Henriot Brut Souverain, NV. One of the most famous champagnes in the world, Brut Souverain has been produced by Henriot since 1808; Henriot is an independent French champagne house with a rich history.
Da Paolo Dempsey Restaurant & Bar
The beautiful little holiday cocktail served at Da Paolo Dempsey Restaurant & Bar is available from now until January 2, 2023. The Mistletoe Punch ($22++) is a fruity, flirty drink that combines merlot with fresh orange juice, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and mint. Perfect for exchanging or receiving a passionate kiss.
Oriole Coffee + Bar
Or, if you’d rather take it easy, Oriole Coffee + Bar is teaming up with Jack Daniel’s to provide a special menu of light drinks and American barbeque through 28 February 2023. The Jack Spice Mule ($16++), an innovative take on the traditional mule, is a particular favorite. Created with both Tennessee Fire and Apple whiskies, this cocktail gets its fizz from ginger beer and its sweetness from cassis liqueur, a French liqueur with notes of blackcurrant.
Tablescape
Everything from whole set meals to a-la-carte roasts and droolworthy festive bakes can be ordered as takeout this holiday season at Tablescape. The best part is that you can use them until 1 January 2023. In particular, the Rum & Raisin Charcuterie Wreath Platter (S$68 nett) entices us with its ring of housemade brioche buns studded with rum-infused raisins.
Swissbake
Swissbake, an artisanal bakery features a menu full of sweet and savoury treats in conjunction with sister firm ZAC Butchery, a homegrown halal-certified premium butchery. One of their Bundles of Joy family meal: the Revelry ($368+) includes a wide variety of roasted chicken, lamb, and beef, as well as veggies and desserts.
Restaurant JAG
Michelin-starred Restaurant JAG ushers the New Year with a four-course meal featuring seasonal vegetables prepared with the restaurant’s finest selection of seafood ($498++ per diner), including blue lobster and caviar. Enhance the indulgence with a bottle of wine selected by restaurant owner Anant and the sommelier ($248++ per person).
Fat Cow
Fat Cow is where you want to go for the holidays as it is currently offering the “Queen of Wagyu,” Matsusaka, for a limited time. With Matsusaka’s debut, Fat Cow now offers all three of the “Sandai,” or “Big Three,” of the wagyu world. Matsusaka wagyu is extremely rare, even among Japan’s wagyus, with only 2,500 cows produced annually to meet quality standards. Matsusaka Wagyu Donburi ($260++) is a revelatory extravagance that marries A5 striploin with maitake and truffle, uni, caviar and ikura, and uni and the restaurant’s ‘Fat Rice.’
